1300 Ton Sand Mining Ship Sinks at Yangtze River
China, Today at 3 PM a sand mining ship sank after water had leaked in earlier. The ship transported gravel and sand and when it docked earlier water came in. The local fire brigade rushed to the scene with drainage pumps but that didn't help and later on it tilted over and eventually sank. Six crew members escaped in time.

Re: 1300 Ton Sand Mining Ship Sinks at Yangtze River
They are constantly dredging in the Yangtze river, because the 3 Gorges Dam project has resulted in a big silting problem. The water speed used to keep the silting cleaned out, but when the water was dammed up, the silt started to deposit behind the dam. They have to remove it to keep the hydroelectric production going.
