The perp is fair game, but the defense attorney is merely doing his job under the US Constitution. It's very likely that he was assigned to this case as a public defender; he can't just up and quit without a darned good reason. Also, give him some credit. It was his right as counsel to advise his client not to respond to any questions that might further incriminate him by invoking the fifth amendment, and he was like "whatever dude, you're on your own"  |
