Murders That Happened Involving People I Knew/know.
https://uk-database.org/2020/10/05/p...y-isle-of-man/ I hope this is the correct section to post this in. This happened 20 years ago on the Isle of Man (where I was born and raised, I left age 15 in 2000) I grew up in care and knew Sammy and George well. The first time I met Sammy she was brought into the children's home and she was scared. She came and sat next to me and asked me about my dolls, I gave her one to keep and she hugged me and clung to me. I knew George through his sister who was a close friend but we lived together more as we got older and were placed in the older kids home which was basically a young offenders unit. I met Peter when I was 14 and he helped me avoid the kids home (abuse from staff) by letting me deliver drugs for him around the Island he gave me bus fare and money for each one I dropped off. I'm not proud of this but it was the lesser of 2 evils. I dated Peter for about 4 months and he was a very twisted person, I'd heard stories about him, one in particular being that he'd killed a duck for fun. One night we were walking by a pond and I asked him if was true thinking it couldn't be and he responded by catching a duck and breaking it's neck in front of me. I broke up with him and purposely got myself grounded so I had an excuse for avoiding him. I left the island shortly afterwards and decided to stay in England after I left the specialist kids home I was moved to (which calmed me down and saved my life) In February 2002, which was a few weeks after I'd gotten my first flat I got a call from my mum telling me what had happened. Peter had strangled, raped and stabbed Sammy and George to death over a rock of crack (most of the kids I grew up with ended up on drugs, hence me saying moving away saved my life). He raped them both before and after death as well. He was arrested and denied it but eventually they found his DNA on both bodies and on the shoelaces he used to strangle them. This event turned my life upside down and sent me into my first proper cycle of mental illness. I stayed in bed crying for months and was medicated up to the eyeballs. These were 2 people I grew up with in care and in care you form close bonds with others as you're all in it together. Peter was out on bail at the time for raping a 14 year old girl but had he been remanded (not his first rape charge) this wouldn't have happened. He was found guilty and sentenced to life with a minimum of 20 years before he can apply for parole which was this year but he's never admitted guilt or any kind of remorse for what he did so I'm hoping he's never released. I'm still good friends with Sammy and Georges sisters so I've got some pictures they've uploaded, I've blurred out the other peoples faces for privacy. R.I.P Sammy and George. |

Wow, you had some rough beginnings there. Glad you had the sense to avoid the drugs growing up. Good decisions. Life saving decisions, as you say. ![]() |

Thank you, I'm fully aware of how lucky I was to get away from all that as most of the kids I grew up with are either dead or in prison. There's a few good eggs that are doing well though.

Re: Murders That Happened Involving People I Knew/know.
I knew a guy (we weren't friends though) for years. He was about 8 years older than me and always acted immature. Then he seemed to disappear for about 4 years and I never saw him around anymore. Then I read in the newspaper that he murdered a child in NYC. He was staying with a drug dealer couple (probably just pot, because he was a pothead when I knew him) and was he angry with them because they owed him money. He got drunk one night, and while the couple were out, leaving their 10 year old son at home, he stabbed the kid to death. He supposedly sodomized the kid with the knife, though that could be just a story my sister told (she was once married to his cousin). A few years before this, we were at my sister's wedding and the guy was acting weird and goofy, and asked me and the other kids there to hit him as hard as we could. He looked at me and said, "Just don't step on my feet because I've got corns, and if you do, I'll kill you." Um'kay.

Re: Murders That Happened Involving People I Knew/know.
As i have posted before in this section of DR, i knew serial killer Danny Rolling. Knew him fairly well. In his first killings.. the ones that happened before his famous ones (the UofFlorida killings near the campus in Aug 1990) , he killed 3 people of the Grissom family in my hometown of Shreveport, La, several months earlier in Nov 1989. What is crazier than just knowing the killer, is that I dated a girl who lived less than 100yards away from where the killings took place. We dated a couple of years earlier than when the murders happened.. but it still seems odd that not only did i know the killer but - had dinner, watched movies, played cards, etc .. just a few houses away from where they were actually butchered. What’s the odds?? ![]() |

hi Coron. Yes, it is crazy stuff. I knew Danny well. His dad and my dad were pals. I spent time around him on many occassions in the mid-1980s. Adding to the craziness and coincidences - A few years later, after the Grissom killings, while i was in a bar in BossierCity(town next to mine), i bumped into a guy walking past a pool table. Literally bumped into him. I didnt know it at the time but, found out mid-2000’s that it was this guy. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glen_Edward_Rogers At the time he was sporting a “country & Western” look. He was pool hustling there. I was headed to get a beer from the bar. He said something to the effect of: “Watch where you are going! Are you wanting to play next game??” I just shook my head and kept walking. Had no idea who he was. Within 24-36hrs of that, he would stab a woman to death. I feel it is just wild the connections i have to Serial Killers! The ODDS have to be miniscule all these situations and meetings. ![]() |

I knew the brother of the lad George but I haven't seen him for about ten years. He used to post pictures of him saying how much he missed him on Facebook.
