A couple thousand is a lot to buy crack. I thought there may be a drug angle here but that seems like a lot of have lying aroud and for crack.

If you are going to spend thousands you would buy cocaine because it is a much better high and if you want to sell you can easily turn it in to crack and make money off of it.

I imagine the story would be she was fronted drugs because she did not have the money several times and they came to collect.

It does correspond with the other friends story. I just posted the SOURCE before but I will post the quote in a sec.

Re: Brianna Maitland Missing From Montgomery, Vermont 2004

This was her roommate's thoughts:

Quote:
n years after Brianna Maitland’s disappearance, friends, family and police are still looking for answers.

On the WPTZ App? Tap here to see the video.

Maitland, then 17 years old, was last seen on March 19, 2004, leaving her job at the Black Lantern Inn in Montgomery, Vt. A day later her car was founded rammed into an abandoned farmhouse on Route 118 about a mile away.

“Do you think Brianna’s alive?” WPTZ’s David Charns asked Maitland’s friend Katie Manning.

“No,” Manning said.

Manning fought back tears as she talked about her friend who lived with her months before her disappearance.

“I had seen her two days before, and knew what she was up to and just figured her parents hadn't heard from her so they called her in missing,” Manning said.

On the night marking a decade since her disappearance, Manning and other friends held a candlelight vigil at the farmhouse. Faint glimmers of light illuminated their quest for answers beneath weathered posters pleading for information.

“I have always felt that she wasn't coming back,” Manning said.

Manning said after not hearing from her friend for 10 years, she believes Maitland was murdered.

“She owed the wrong person money for the wrong thing,” Manning said. “That person was in her car that night.”

Vermont State Police believe Maitland was a victim of foul play. Investigators said they continue to get tips on the case.

After years of waiting, Manning is looking for closure.

“They need to find a body,” she said. “They need to have someone admit to doing whatever they did. We need to have a funeral. We deserve a funeral. Everyone that loves her deserves that.”

Though she knows it is unlikely, Manning hopes Maitland will one day return home.
“By chance, if she is out there, she knows that we are still here waiting to hear,” Manning said. “We always will be here waiting to hear from her.”

The Maitland family is offering a combined $20,000 reward. It includes $10,000 for information leading to Maitland’s location and $10,000 for a tip leading to an arrest.
State police are offering a $5,000 reward toward a resolution in the case.

Anyone with information can contact police at 802-524-5993 or at the State Police Crime Information Tip Line at 802-241-5355.

Anonymous tips can be submitted at www.vtips.info or by texting “CRIMES” (274637) with the keyword “VTIPS.”

A closer look at Brianna’s car…

In the Spring of 2005, I stayed weekends with the Maitlands. Originally they offered Waylon’s place (Brianna's brother), a couple hundred yards from their house. Waylon wasn’t living there at the time. After the day and evening discussions, they said I could sleep on the couch. I had my sleeping bag, as we’d already planned it would be okay for me to stay the weekend.

By then the VSP had finished an extensive forensics investigation involving her car. What follows are pictures of the car, stored at the Maitland's property, and after a thorough discussion of the car I did my own investigation. Due to the renewed activity by VSP, I’m leaving out certain things I discovered, but in general, this is most of what I saw and thought.

Brianna either bought or inherited the car from her grandfather. She loved her car, and from some of the images I’m showing you that appears to be a fact.

The car is gone now… but she had pasted the pictures there above her visor.

This is her dashboard. Bottle-caps are glued to her radio dials. The “PROWL” yellow-tape is a mystery to me. Inside the ashtray there are more than one brand of cigarette butts present.

View of front seat: Note Styrofoam food container on floor of passenger side. Note necklace on passenger seat. Not obvious is vomit at the bottom left, on the piece of carpet near the corner where the door hinge is. The necklace apparently was not kept as evidence.

Back seat: Note ice scrapper on floor, beside it is a Walkman CD Player. Also, behind the driver’s seat are cans of food wrapped in commercial plastic-wrap. Note, the cuts in the rear seat for forensic DNA (the orange and yellowish patch-cuts).

Almost forgot…when I flipped down the visor on the driver’s side, an image of Angelina Jolie was there, along with this fairy-image cutout; the marijuana trinket in the picture was hanging from her rear-view mirror.

And as a final image, the underside of the rear of her car… note mud caked into her tires.

These are interesting. I am not sure the damage from the underside is evidence because that was an old car and you could scrape going over a parking lot entrance that is higher than the road.

I just watched the video. The NJ video of the girl who looks like her is interesting.

The dent in the exhaust looks old. No new metal showing or cracks/flaking of rust at the crease which happens when something rusty is bent. The gas tank should show scuffed metal as well if it were new I would think.

I was just watching the Disappeared episode about the two girls from NC who went missing in Mexico. Sadly they are likely dead.

Every time I hear about Matamouras, Mexico I think of the case of Adolfo de Jesus Constanzo who practiced Santeria and Palo Mayombe to make sacrifices for people and because he thought his human sacrifices would make his drug dealers invisible to the police. He got caught by scarificing an American boy whose parents had some political ties. I would NEVER go there. A bunch of people disappeared around the time he was in business and still do because of the cartels today.

I always laugh at his death picture because he seems so big and scary yet he wore tiny shorts

Are you referring to the casino video at Atlantic City, Morbid?
That is not Brianna and yes it is striking.

I don't understand drug dealers killing clients over a debt. They will never see the cash and a murder charge just isn't worth it. JMO
Prayers she is found and brought home, so her mum can bury her daughter. So sad.
I also think the cops dropped the ball on this case too.
Shocking, I know.
Godspeed Brianna

Ah God, she has such a great smile. Why do these damn kids get themselves all involved with drug trash just to end up dead - probably horribly in this case.

Supposedly she was the lender in which case it is perfectly believable that the wannabe drug dealers lost or squandered the money then felt pressured when she started telling people what deadbeat borrowers they were.

For gansters who lend money or run protection rackets/turf taxes it does make sense to punish violators who can't pay as a message to others. That said this girl had two jobs and could have easily found a 3rd as a prostitute if really hard up for cash so it doesn't add up that she was killed for not paying a debt. Killed by some little worm that didn't want to pay their debts-I can totally believe that.
