Re: This is What 200 Kmh Winds Look Like.
Two-hundred kmh is about 125 mph or an EF-2. I've watched 90-100 mph winds blow around my place during a derecho (which is about the only extreme weather around my place that won't immediately send my ass to our below-ground EF-5 shelter.) Ninety mile-per-hour winds are pretty friggin' scary, even in a house that is bolted to the foundation -and- has "hurricane straps" holding the roof to the sidewalls. The house has a good chance of surviving anything up to an EF-3. Any bigger, if we make it to the EF-5 shelter and latch the door, we'll make it and the house won't. Lucky for us, we can access the shelter without having to go outside. |
