Volcan at La Palma Eruptive Plume Interaction with Hotter Air Layer
A time-lapse video (lap1) shows the interaction of the Volcan at La Palma eruptive plume with the Temp inversion at the top of the Saharan Air Layer that forces it to move horizontally at 5300m asl. The volcano emits pulses of different intensity which causes these waves! The Sahara air layer is too hot too penetrate.

~ I bet that looks something like what happened to Pompeii. ~ There are three levels of thermal conveyance: Conduction: Solids Convection: Liquids/Gases Radiation: Vacuum ~ In areas where the air is too thin/hot & gas particles are small enough, as in a volcano eruption, plasma/lightning emissions will occur. ~ As is in this case, the particles are too big to penetrate the hot air layer, so they disperse in respective waves to the volcano eruption cycles. |
