Typhoon Lan Hits Wakayama with 160 km/h Winds
Typhoon Lan made landfall Tuesday morning near Shionomisaki in Wakayama Prefecture at about 5:00 am local time. Winds reached nearly 160 km/h. The storm caused damage and power outages in the western Kansai region and surrounding prefectures. Reports also described a river overflowing and a bridge being swept away.
