Tornado Hits Lambert Airport, St Louis Terminal

Staff and passengers flee from broken glass and debris as CCTV from inside Lambert Airport, St Louis shows the moment a tornado struck.

The tornado hits the terminal and adjoining metro station.

The tornado was spawned by a vicious storm that ripped through the St. Louis area on Friday evening.

5 people were reported injured, with 4 of them taken to hospital.

Luckily the injuries amounted to mainly minor "cuts and bruises.

A powerful tornado ripped through the St. Louis Airport Friday, cutting a 22-mile swath of destruction that tore through Concourse C.

But miraculously, there were no deaths that resulted from the area's most powerful tornado in 44 years, according to the AP. However, the storm destroyed over 100 homes and had residents still digging out on Easter Sunday.

It's hard to imagine a storm of this magnitude producing no fatalities, which is why many locals are calling the aftermath of the St. Louis tornado a miracle.

No, I think the sound from the terminal plus the building itself would drown out the noise. After all, you can't really hear the planes outside of the waiting area when they're pulling in.

Now why the airport didn't broadcast the tornado warning and/or direct people to the center of the building/lower level is a whole other story.
