Tornado Damages Guamuchil, Sinaloa

On Thursday, September 22, a strong tornado struck Guamuchil in Sinaloa, Mexico. Strong winds began around 5:00 pm, and residents quickly took shelter.

Videos shared on social media showed the tornado forming and moving through main streets, causing material damage. Winds exceeded 100 kilometers per hour and moved toward the highway to Mocorito.

The Municipal Civil Protection Unit responded to reports involving fallen trees, poles, street furniture, and damage to some home and business facades. Authorities also reported damage in the municipality of Salvador Alvarado, especially to roof structures in the Centro, Magisterio, and San Pedro neighborhoods.

Power outages were reported in different areas. Some streets were closed to traffic because of fallen branches and trees. People in the region were urged to take precautions for their safety as the tornado continued.
