An earthquake with magnitude of 7.1 was reported to have shaken Caracas and several other regions in Venezuela on Wednesday.
According to reports from residents te tremors were quite strong and lasted for more then a minute. The situation causedany people to rush out of there homes,shopping centers and office buildings to save themselves.

At least 32 people have been confirmed dead and over 700 are injured and does not yet include the numbers coming out of La Guaira, where dozens of buildings collapsed.

The United States Geological Survey issued a prompt warning stating that a massive death toll is probable due to poor local infrastructure, which predominantly features unreinforced brick masonry and adobe blocks.

According to current USGS modeling, there is a 44% chance that fatalities will exceed 10,000.

The confirmed death toll has officially jumped to at least 920 and over 4,500 people are injured.

Tens of thousands of people remain missing or unaccounted for under the rubble. At least 172 people are currently documented as visibly trapped in collapsed structures.

Satellite imagery has revealed that dozens of high-rise apartment complexes and hotels have been completely pancaked. The iconic 10-story Hotel Eduard's on the coast has been reduced entirely to dust and rubble.

The U.S has pledged $150 million in aid and deployed its Southern Command to provide heavy-lift helicopters and ships.

Emergency teams from over 20 nations, incl. the UK, Mexico, El Salvador and the Netherlands, are actively arriving to assist the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
