The "E" means enhanced. It's basically a recalibration of the "F" (Fujita) scale that has been in use since 2007. I believe it's used to more accurately compare wind speeds and damage to past tornados. Blah, blah, blah...it's on the internetz somewhere I'm sure.

Awesome vid, Kelly! I really feel for the folks that live in tornado-prone areas of the U.S. Here in middle Tennessee we get our fair share of tornado-spawning storms, but we rarely see one of the magnitude that this storm produced. This twister was a frickin' wall of fury! |
