Rainstorm and Hail Hit Jilin Province
On May 16, 2023, the main urban area of Jilin province was hit by extremely heavy rainfall, with strong convective weather including strong winds, thunder and lightning, and hail. The rainstorm brought strong winds and reduced visibility for drivers. The Jilin Meteorological Observatory issued a yellow rainstorm and thunderstorm warning signal at 4:30 pm. Hailstorms also occurred in Yongji County and six towns. The largest hailstones were up to 4 cm in diameter, and many crops were affected to varying degrees. Around the evening, strong winds and rainstorms hit at the same time.
