On May 14, Fujian Province in southeastern China was hit by one of its most severe and widespread rainstorm events of the year, with torrential rain affecting cities and rural areas.

The prolonged downpour overwhelmed rivers, drainage systems, and reservoirs. A large dam discharge and overflowing rivers destroyed bridges and flooded villages, with flood conditions worsening across large parts of the province.

Meteorological authorities warned that some areas received extremely intense rainfall within only a few hours, increasing the risk of flash floods and river disasters.
