Mount Etna Sends 12-kilometer Ash Plume Over Sicily
Mount Etna erupted Monday, sending a 12-kilometer-high plume of ash over Sicily, Italy. Experts in Catania said the activity centered on a lava flow on the mountain's southeast slope. Italy's civil protection agency said ash from the eruption blanketed nearby towns.
