Powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela on June 24, 2026, collapsing buildings around La Guaira and Caracas. In the days that followed, U.S. Marines and international search-and-rescue teams worked alongside Venezuelan residents to dig through the rubble for survivors.

In La Guaira, Marines with the Maritime Raid Force, Littoral Combat Force-24, and Combat Logistics Battalion-8 joined the search and debris-clearing effort from June 28 to June 30. Teams surveyed the disaster zones, moved rubble, cut through rebar, and used a rope to climb down a collapsed roof. A Miami-Dade urban search and rescue K-9 kept searching for survivors on July 2, working with local volunteers and rescue crews from around the world.

Four U.S. urban search and rescue teams took part, from Fairfax County, Los Angeles County, Miami-Dade County, and the city of Miami. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue's Florida Task Force-1 flew in from Homestead Air Reserve Base aboard a U.S. Air Force C-17 on June 27.

UH-1Y Venom helicopters with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 365 flew aerial damage-assessment missions over Caracas on June 27 and 28, surveying the destruction from above.

The support was directed at Venezuela's request, and a disaster assistance team stayed on the ground to keep aid moving to the hardest-hit areas.
