Man Descends 1200 Ft Into An Active Volcano
George Kourounis & Sam Cossman with volcanic pioneers Brad Ambrose & Geoff Mackely became among the first explorers to step foot inside the worlds most dangerous and inaccessible volcano, Marum Crater.

Ambrym is a volcanic island in Malampa Province in the archipelago of Vanuatu. It is a large basaltic volcano with a 12-km-wide caldera, and one of the most active volcanoes of the New Hebrides volcanic arc.

The 1900-year-old caldera is the site of two active volcanic cones, Benbow and Marum.

More people have visited the moon than the fiery bottom of this spectacular and deadly location

During the final assault of the City of Mexico by the Spanish, they needed sulfur to make powder for ammunition.

A group of men, in 1521 mind you, claimed 17000 feet, to lower one individual, several times over, to collect the sulfer.

They did this with a wicker-basket, and over 700 feet of vines, into an active volcano. The individual inside was being cooked, while the rope pullers were being frozen.

Badass video, but the old school way of lowering yourself into an open festering earth zit, was a little manlier than this.
