Magnitude 7.4 Earthquake Shakes Fukushima and Tokyo
The Japan Meteorological Agency said a magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck 36 miles below the sea at 11:36 pm. The quake was felt across a wide swath of Japan, including eastern, central and western parts of the country. Authorities warned residents in Fukushima, Miyagi and Yamagata prefectures to expect aftershocks for the next week or so.
