A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck Dachaidan in Haixi Mongol and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, on June 16, 2026. Ground cracks and an emergency alert were reported in Qinghai. The quake was recorded at a depth of 10 kilometers and classified as a shallow-focus event, which typically produces more intense ground shaking near the surface.
