M3.1 Earthquake Hits Qingpu District, Shanghai
A magnitude 3.1 earthquake occurred in Qingpu District, Shanghai, China, on June 15, 2023. China Seismic Network measured the quake at 1:39 am at a shallow depth of 8 kilometers. The quake was reported as shaking houses. Shallow earthquakes can be felt more strongly because they are closer to the surface. At the time, the magnitude and other quake parameters were still subject to change as the agency processed seismic data.
