Nepal. A devastating multi-day spell of heavy monsoon rainfall has triggered a new wave of catastrophic floods, landslides and high-altitude avalanches across Nepal, leaving at least 24 people dead and 14 others missing.

The disaster comes only a month after the country was struck by apocalyptic flash floods along the Nepal-China border that claimed more than 1,400 lives.

The continuous downpour, driven by a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, has wreaked havoc across multiple districts. In the northern Mustang district, dramatic eyewitness footage captured a massive section of a mountainside collapsing directly into the Kali Gandaki River near Lete village.

The resulting debris briefly blocked the river channel before water forced its way through, prompting urgent flash flood warnings downstream.

In the neighboring Baglung district, witnesses filmed the moment a government building entirely crumbled into the roaring Daram River. Fortunately, local officials managed to evacuate vital documents and computers shortly before the collapse, preventing injuries.

Over 1,500 residents have been forced from their homes, primarily within the Gandaki Province.
