Landslide with Trees and Debris Collapses on Alaskan Road
A landslide buried a roadway in Alaska with huge trees and debris. The May 7 landslide blocked the only road to Lowell Point, an area popular for camping, whale watching and lodging at cabins. A truck had been struck by a boulder, so a person in a front loader was working to remove rocks from the roadway. As two people were waiting for the road to be cleared, the video shows the front loader back up. Then someone is heard saying in the video “here it comes” and the mountainside collapsed seconds later. Huge trees, boulders and debris crashed onto the roadway, narrowly missing the front loader, the video shows.     |
