Knickerbocker Theatre Roof Collapse Killed 98 in 1922
The Knickerbocker Theatre roof in Washington, DC, collapsed on January 28, 1922, under the weight of 28 inches of snow from a blizzard. Ninety-eight people were killed and 113 were injured. Police and rescue workers were at the wreckage the following day, January 29. The theatre's architect died by suicide five years later, and its owner died by suicide in 1937.  ·
