Re: Greetings from Slovenia
The area of Dolnja Bistrica has been thrust into chaos as the Mura River broke through its water embankment on Saturday afternoon. The consequences of this breach are severe, with several hundred people being evacuated from the region as the water threatens to engulf villages and settlements. Despite ongoing efforts to divert the flow, the water levels continue to rise, posing a grave threat to the safety and livelihoods of the residents. Rupture of the Embankment The catastrophe struck when approximately 15 meters of the water embankment gave way, allowing the Mura River to surge uncontrolled. Escalating Flow of Mura River Adding to the complexity of the situation, the flow of the Mura River has been relentlessly increasing. Martin Smodiš, the head of the Prekmurje Regional Branch of Civil Protection, sounded the alarm, revealing that the river’s flow has already surpassed the record of 1,350 cubic meters per second set in August 2005, reaching a staggering 1,400 cubic meters per second. As a result, other areas along the river’s course are also experiencing difficulties, requiring the continuous pumping of water from facilities in affected regions. |

Re: Greetings from Slovenia
Even sadder for the people dying there! They should send some of that extra water to Hawaii where they apparently forgot how to fight fires caused by some twigs and brush on lava rock! Holy shit! |
