On October 5, residents of Tobago and north-east Trinidad faced thundershowers linked to a fast-approaching tropical wave. Flooding was reported in parts of Chaguanas, Arouca, Tacarigua, Tunapuna, Sangre Grande, and other areas.

Violent rainfall started at midnight, five hours earlier than the local Meteorological Service had previously advised when a yellow level was issued. Gusty winds were also reported as the system moved over the islands.

In Roxborough and Mt St George, Tobago, there was flooding, landslides, marooned vehicles, traffic, and power outages. In Bon Air Gardens, streets in phase three began flooding, restricting movement for residents, and some businesses, including a bar, were flooded.

On the highway between Trincity and Macoya, drivers turned around to avoid floodwaters, creating a traffic pile-up. Motorists, pedestrians, and homeowners are being urged not to venture into flood waters. The bad weather is expected to continue until Friday and could potentially bring more devastation to the area.
