Bomb Cyclone Buries Providence in Over 3 Feet of Snow

Providence, Rhode Island, was buried by over 3 feet of snow from a bomb cyclone on February 23, 2026, breaking both daily and storm total snowfall records.

Vehicles were buried under feet of snow, accidents were widespread, and police were at a car crash. A front loader was clearing snow from a parking lot after the recorded snowfall.

Around Brown University, students used skis to get around and went sledding down city streets. Pedestrians were also walking and playing in the deep snow, with snow covering the State Capitol building.
