Avalanche Crosses Interstate 70 Near Copper Mountain

An avalanche came down onto Interstate 70 near Copper Mountain, Colorado on the afternoon of March 3, 2019, throwing a wall of snow across the highway. No vehicles were buried and nobody was hurt.

It fell during an extreme avalanche cycle in the Colorado high country. Four days later a slide about a mile south of the ski area buried three cars on Highway 91, and all five occupants were dug out with minor injuries.
