2011 Tsunami and Fires in Kesennuma, Miyagi

On March 11, 2011, during the Great East Japan Earthquake, a resident of Kesennuma evacuated to a nearby building and watched the family's shop and home get swept away. Buildings collided and creaked under the pressure before being swallowed by black, muddy water. His father stood beside him in silence. That night, fires burned across the harbor and through the town.
