Re: Wing Walker Plane Crash at Dayton Air Show
If you look at the first photo on page 4, right before the crash, the aileron on the left wing(she is sitting on it) is in the down position(up in the inverted wing) which would cause that wing to pitch downward, as it did. Also since ailerons are tied together the opposite wing would have pitched up. This doesn't necessarily mean it was pilot error, could have been equipment failure or burst of wind. When flying inverted at that altitude there is absolutely no room for recovery, one of the most dangerous maneuvers done in an aircraft. One of my favorite quotes, "There are old pilots, and bold pilots, but no old bold pilots".

Re: Wing Walker Plane Crash at Dayton Air Show
Sometimes it makes one wonder that maybe it was a murder-suicide and no one would ever know because there are so many possibilities that could be factored in.They were a former couple and maybe she was starting to see someone else and he just couldnt handle it.(hypothetically) |

Re: Wing Walker Plane Crash at Dayton Air Show
I don't think Charlie Schwenker and Jane Wicker were ever a couple. Her ex-husband, Kirk Wicker, was her pilot but after their divorce she started flying with this pilot.
