In Saint Bruno, Quebec, a tragic incident unfolded as two small planes collided above a bustling shopping mall on a Friday, resulting in the loss of one pilot's life and causing serious injuries to the other.

Emergency services responded swiftly, and the injured pilot was transported to the hospital, along with two witnesses who required treatment for shock. Fortunately, Longueuil police confirmed that the injuries sustained by the other pilot were not life-threatening.

Nancy Colagiacomo, a spokesperson for the local police force serving Montreal's south shore, described the scene, stating, "One of the planes crashed on the roof of one of the stores and the other one on the asphalt of the parking lot."

Both aircraft had one male pilot each, as reported by the police.

Witnesses recounted the horrifying moments when pieces of the plane rained down onto the mall's parking lot. Nheil Martinez, a construction worker who was present at the time, shared his experience, saying, "I saw the shadow of the plane on the parking lot, and I heard the motor so low to the ground and then a loud boom." He described seeing fragments of the aircraft falling from the sky.

Martinez rushed to the crash site and found a man inside the plane, but unfortunately, the individual had suffered severe injuries.

In response to the incident, police established a security perimeter around the wreckage in Saint Bruno, which is located approximately 25 kilometers from Montreal. Kerosene from the plane that had crashed onto the roof had leaked into the shopping mall, necessitating the evacuation of the entire building.

Jonathan Vanasse, who was dining at a restaurant adjacent to the crash site in the parking lot, described the chaotic scene, including the sight of the leaking fuel from the plane. He recounted the initial shock and disbelief among onlookers when they realized that a plane had fallen from the sky, leaving behind a trail of shredded metal.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada swiftly announced its deployment of an investigative team to the crash site to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision. The TSB clarified that both planes involved were Cessna 152 aircraft, operated by Cargair, a pilot-training academy based in the nearby town of Longueuil.
