South Korea's Jeju Air Plane Crashes at Muan International Airport
"An aircraft carrying 175 passengers and six flight attendants has veered off the runway and crashed into a fence in South Korea, the Yonhap news agency reported on Sunday. Yonhap said 23 casualties had been reported so far and that rescues were underway from Jeju Air flight 2216 from Bangkok. Large plumes of smoke could be seen rising into the sky in early unverified images emerging on social media. Emergency services received the call at Muan international airport in South Jeolla Province at around 9am." |

That Korean sign language guy in the OP is rather understandable. I also like that he does not make scary facial expressions.

Lucky to only lose 28 people with the fuselage coming apart like that. WOW Being a passenger on that ride, what a situation to find yourself in. ![]() |

Re: South Korea's Jeju Air Plane Crashes at Muan International Airport
Saying now the death toll is 179 out of 181. 1 flight attendant and 1 passenger survived in rear of cabin. That would have been completely survivable if they had not hit something. What would be THAT big, THAT close to the runway? ![]() |

Re: South Korea's Jeju Air Plane Crashes at Muan International Airport
Google Mapping it, there is a large, concrete appearing structure at the SOUTH end of the runway, but it is PAST the over-run area. This must be what they hit. You can't see how tall it is, but if it is 3 feet or more high, like a light installation or glide slope antenna installation, that would be enough to rip the airplane apart. ![]() |

Re: South Korea's Jeju Air Plane Crashes at Muan International Airport
Again rear of cabin is the best place to survive. Why would there be fence that close to runway, overshooting is something that should be considered? Year 2024 in aviation safety got more worse in the last days. |

Re: South Korea's Jeju Air Plane Crashes at Muan International Airport
In fairness, judging by the updates, it doesn't seem to be the concrete fence that they crashed into. It looks what the plane crashed into was an embankment holding the ILS (Instrument Landing System) array. I suspect this must be what they are referring to. ![]() |
