Small Plane Crashes in New Hampshire

A pilot whose small plane crashed Tuesday morning in Hampton, New Hampshire, says he's lucky he wasn't hurt.

Hampton Fire Rescue responded to the crash on Redding Landing, near the Hampton Airfield, around 10:15 a.m. Ring doorbell footage shows the moment it went into a wooded area.

The pilot, Dave Lennon, was the only one on board. He was evaluated on scene and was not hurt.

"I knew about a half a second before I crashed that I couldn't recover it," Lennon told. "I just tried to stay with it 100%, and I'm just fortunate that I didn't hit anything else and I walked out without a scratch, basically."

Lennon says he bought the plane in 2004 and has flown it in and out of the Hampton Airfield hundreds of times. The plane is a 1946 Luscombe light touring plane.

This was his second attempt to land the plane. As he was about to approach the runway he says his plane lost power.

"It stalled about 50 feet above the ground," Lennon said. "I just didn't have any power to pull out when I was starting to get a little short on the approach and then it just started turning. I pretty much tried to hold it in place, so it didn't flip over, and I couldn't get it to pull out."

While this was a nerve-wracking experience, he says it won't stop him from flying in the future.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.

It's not that uncommon. Besides people drive antique cars all the time

Re: Small Plane Crashes in New Hampshire

As long as it’s had regular care and maintenance it’s good to go. I wonder what caused the problem.

He’s lucky that he came out unscathed.
