Single-engine Cessna 172 Makes Emergency Landing on Famous L.A. Golf Course
On Friday, May 2, 2025, a single-engine Cessna 172 (N3753L) made an emergency landing at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, California, around 12:45–1:00 p.m. local time. The plane, carrying three passengers, was en route to Santa Monica Airport, approximately six miles south, when it experienced engine failure, forcing the pilot to land on the golf course. No injuries were reported among the passengers or on the ground, and the aircraft remained serviceable. The incident occurred at the prestigious Riviera Country Club, known for hosting the Genesis Invitational, a PGA Tour event led by Tiger Woods, and set to host golf at the 2028 Olympics. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the engine failure, with the FAA noting the plane was diverted from Santa Monica Airport for reasons still under review. This marks the second golf course emergency landing in 2025, following a February incident at Shoreline Golf Course in Mountain View, California, due to fuel issues. |

The pilot did a great job of getting it landed in one piece and no flag was broken. ![]() |
