Plane Seat Caught Fire Due to Power Bank Charging Unit

An alarming incident unfolded on an Aeroflot flight traveling from Moscow to Volgograd, and it was captured on camera. The distressing footage reveals flames emerging between two seats in the economy class cabin.

Passengers aboard the flight were quick to respond, gathering around the burning seats and attempting to extinguish the flames with water. The incident occurred shortly after the plane had landed, prompting the evacuation of all passengers. Some passengers utilized emergency slides to exit the Airbus A320 aircraft.

A crew member took immediate action, employing a fire extinguisher and a bottle of water to successfully extinguish the burning seats at Volgograd Airport. Notably, this airport was set to host England's FIFA World Cup campaign opener against Tunisia on June 18.

One passenger recounted the harrowing experience, explaining, "We were already standing between the seats, and a charging unit began to smoke and soon it was burning. The fire was put out in less than a minute, but a couple of passengers began to panic. Somehow they released the emergency slides, and some people did use them to get out of the plane. Others inside the cabin did not panic at all and left the plane normally via the usual steps."

In a 49-second video clip documenting the incident, passengers can be heard coughing due to smoke fumes. They urgently call for water, with phrases like "give water, quickly," "give a bottle of water," and "take some water" heard in Russian. Numerous individuals pass water to those involved in extinguishing the blaze.

A member of the flight crew, holding a fire extinguisher, asks for clarification on the cause, to which a male passenger responds, "Power bank, charging unit."

Fortunately, airline sources confirmed that no passengers were injured in this unsettling incident.
