Plane Runs Out of Fuel & Lands Safely in Maui, Hawaii
U.S. Coast Guard video captures a Cirrus SR-22 aircraft that ran out of fuel north of Maui, Hawaii. You then see a large parachute open up from behind the plane. This parachute allowed the pilot to land in the water safely. Moments later, a cruiseliner came to pick up the pilot.

I remember this. I believe he was flying from N. Cali and didn't calculate his fuel correctly. Had a headwind that he didn't figure in.
