A rather unique incident unfolded near the municipality of St-Augustin-de-Desmaures, where motorists on Highway 40 were witness to a remarkable event, although it did not involve a crash.

Around 10:40 a.m., concerned drivers on the highway reached out to the police to report an unusual situation. According to Sgt. Helene Nepton of the provincial police, an aircraft executed an emergency landing, and the remarkable part was that it did so without any mishap, causing no harm to those on board or anyone on the highway.

Footage posted online captured the Piper PA-28 Cherokee descending amidst the traffic, ultimately touching down in the center of the westbound lanes. As the plane made its descent, traffic behind it naturally slowed to a crawl, creating a rather unusual sight for the motorists.

This emergency landing transpired just south of Quebec City's Jean Lesage International Airport, although officials were unable to provide immediate clarity regarding the specific reasons that prompted the plane to make an immediate landing.

Sgt. Helene Nepton recounted the unfolding events, stating, "We received calls mentioning that an airplane was landing on westbound Highway 40. Fortunately, the aircraft landed without a collision, and then no one was injured. In fact, traffic was able to resume quickly in the area."

Just because the prop is still turning doesn't mean they didn't have engine failure. You can have enough power to keep the prop spinning without being able to generate enough power to keep the aircraft aloft.
