Pilot Killed when Experimental Rutan Long-EZ Aircraft Crashes
The tragic accident involved a distinguished figure in the local aviation community, identified as A, who was piloting an experimental Rutan Long-EZ aircraft. A, a highly experienced pilot, was 74 years old at the time of the incident. Eyewitness reports suggest that the pilot had taken off in the distinctive "Canard" configuration aircraft. During the flight, it appears that he was attempting a barrel roll, a maneuver where the aircraft rotates along its longitudinal axis. Unfortunately, A was unable to maintain control of the aircraft's flight path. It is believed that the aircraft crashed at an extremely high speed, estimated to be around 400 kilometers per hour. This high-velocity impact led to the complete destruction of the aircraft and the instantaneous death of the pilot. Following the crash, the pilot's body was reportedly found in a field, while the wreckage of the aircraft was scattered over an area of approximately 200 meters. This tragic event underscores the inherent risks of flying experimental aircraft, especially during complex aerial maneuvers |
