Pilot Dies After Crashing His Stunt Plane at the Cozumel Aeroshow, Mexico

In a tragic incident at the Cozumel Aeroshow in 2016, a pilot lost his life following a crash during a stunt performance. The accident occurred during the annual airshow, which features a range of aerial displays including acrobatic flying, drawing both local and international participants.

The pilot, Juan Miguel Garcia Salas, was performing a complex aerial maneuver when the stunt plane experienced difficulties. Eyewitnesses reported that the aircraft appeared to lose control before crashing. Emergency services responded promptly, but unfortunately, the pilot succumbed to the injuries sustained in the crash.

The type of aircraft involved in the incident was not specified in the initial reports. Stunt planes, often used in airshows, are typically designed for high maneuverability and are equipped to handle the stresses of acrobatic flight. However, the inherent risks of stunt flying, especially during complex maneuvers, are well-known in the aviation community.

Actually looks like something broke.....it went from smoothly doing aerobatics to a jittery dive straight into the ground. I would have thought he could have recovered from a stall, especially since he knew how to fly aerobatics....but....you never know......

He died from Hypovolemic shock due to head trauma and the investigation of the crash/plane will take months.
