Passenger Plane Crashes in Brazil (ATR 72-500)
ATR 72-500 (PS-VPB), which left Cascavel (PR) destination for Guarulhos (SP) had an accident today August 9th, 2024. There are no known survivors.

The plane was headed to Sao Paulo’s international airport Guarulhos. Main cause of the accident is unknown at this moment.

Pilot reported complete power loss in engines... fuel starvation maybe? (Sorry, bogus info). Some experts are siding with an icing event. Severe icing was reported above 12k foot level in this region. This plane was flying at 17k feet. Flight path video looks like the pilot might have intentionally diverted course to less populated area. Although it did strike a home and garage, no one on the ground was apparently hurt.
