Nepal Tourist Plane Crash Kills 19 On Board
In a harrowing incident, a plane carrying 19 individuals, primarily foreign tourists, crashed in Nepal while attempting to land in thick fog, according to local authorities. Eyewitnesses at the scene, located in Bisankunarayan village just south of Kathmandu, reported the grim recovery of as many as 18 bodies from the wreckage. Despite efforts to rush the last passenger on board to a hospital, this individual tragically succumbed to their injuries. A witness, Haribol Poudel, recounted to Avenues Television that the aircraft had struck the roof of a house in the village, further underscoring the severity of the crash. Among the passengers were 13 foreign tourists, comprising 10 Indians, two Americans, and one Japanese. Additionally, the flight carried three Nepalese passengers and three crew members. Nepal's air rescue office provided information indicating that the last contact with the Buddha Air flight was made at 7:31 a.m. local time, from the control tower near Kathmandu airport. The ill-fated Beechcraft jet was on its return journey to the Nepalese capital after offering passengers the opportunity to witness the majestic Mount Everest. This "mountain flight" took tourists on a remarkable aerial journey over the Everest region, allowing them to behold some of the world's highest peaks through the plane's windows. · · |
