Navion A and Yak-52 Collide Near Mesa, AZ

On March 17, 2023, a Ryan Navion A, registration N610, and a Yakovlev Yak-52, registration N2504U, operated by TTD LLC, collided in midair near Mesa, Arizona, during a formation flight.

Both single-engine airplanes sustained substantial damage. One person was seriously injured.

The collision was caused by the Ryan Navion pilot's failure to maintain visual sight of and clearance from the other airplane during the formation flight.
