A National Airlines Boeing 747 crashed in Afghanistan shortly after takeoff.

The cargo included armored vehicles that were improperly secured. A vehicle at the rear broke loose during takeoff and rolled backward through the rear wall into the empennage, dislocating the horizontal stabilizer jackscrew. The damage left the crew without control of the horizontal stabilizer, and the aircraft could not be recovered from its steep climb.
