Malaysian Private Airplane Crashes into the Street

In a tragic incident that unfolded in Malaysia's central Selangor state on Thursday, a light plane crashed into a street, resulting in the loss of eight lives among the plane's occupants and claiming the lives of two motorists on the ground.

Local police chief Mohamad Iqbal Ibrahim stated, "For now, I can say at least 10 people were killed in the plane crash. Two passing motorists – one in a car and one on a motorcycle – also perished together with the eight onboard the plane."

An eyewitness, Mohamad Syahmie Mohamad Hashim, a former member of the Malaysian air force, reported seeing the plane exhibiting erratic flight behavior. He recalled, "Not long after that I heard a loud boom," and he rushed towards the scene, where he witnessed the wreckage of the aircraft and a human body engulfed in flames, feeling helpless in the face of the tragedy.

Additional witnesses recounted that the Beechcraft Model 390 aircraft burst into flames upon impact with the ground in Elmina, near Shah Alam, accompanied by a loud explosion.

Video footage captured at the scene displayed billowing fire and black smoke, with dark soot covering the crash site and debris scattered around. Residential houses were visible in the background.

Among the plane's passengers who tragically lost their lives was Johari Harun, a state assembly member in central Pahang state responsible for housing and the environment, as confirmed by the police.

Malaysia's civil aviation authority disclosed that there were a total of six passengers and two flight crew members aboard the aircraft at the time of the crash.

The plane had departed from the northern resort island of Langkawi and was en route to Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah airport, located west of the capital, Kuala Lumpur, according to Norazman Mahmud, the chief of the civil aviation authority. Notably, no distress call or mayday signal was issued prior to the tragic incident.

Not 2 much left after going in like that & the resulting fire ball from the fuel going up, suffice to say that they died instantaneously.

Re: Malaysian Private Airplane Crashes into the Street

The search for human remains at the site where a Beechcraft Model 390 aircraft crashed yesterday is 95% complete, Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said this morning.

“Our search here is nearing completion. There might still be a small number of human remains to be located, which will take time, but we can say it’s 95% finished.

“There is only around 5% left. It’s possible that we haven’t searched beneath the cars,” he told reporters at the scene.
Razarudin hoped the site and its debris would be cleared by noon. “We’ll try to clear the highway to ease the movement of those living nearby here,” he said.

Razarudin said DNA samples have been collected from 22 family members of the 10 victims who were on board the plane. Tests are being carried out on the samples at the South Klang police headquarters to help in the identification process.

He also said the aircraft carried only a cockpit voice recorder (CVR) and no flight data recorder.

“When we checked with the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), we were told this aircraft only had a CVR. Some other light aircraft also do not have flight data recorders,” he said.

The CVR was recovered by AAIB personnel last night and has been sent to the lab for analysis.
