Light Aircraft Crashes in Kapar, West Malaysia

A small plane is believed to have crashed in the village area around Kapar, West Malaysia, today. The incident is believed to have occurred at approximately 1:30 in the afternoon. The Chief Executive Officer of the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), Datuk Captain Norazman Mahmud, confirmed the incident, stating, "Yes, we are gathering information and will issue an official statement later."

Several video recordings showing the wreckage of the crashed plane in a garden area were uploaded by individuals on social media and quickly went viral. According to witnesses in the videos, the ill-fated plane disintegrated in the air before crashing. However, the validity of these statements cannot be ascertained at this time.

Selangor Police Chief, Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, also confirmed the incident when contacted but declined to provide further comment.

A light aircraft is reported crash in Kapar , Klang , Malaysia approximately at 1:30PM today. Based on videos taken by civilians in the area , the light aircraft is identified as Black shape Gabriel registrated as I-POOC.

Singapore Firm's Aircraft Crashes In Kapar Village, Selangor Fire Dept Says Occupants Still Missing

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department has confirmed today that a light aircraft caught fire today and crashed near Kampung Tok Muda in Kapar. In a statement, it said it received a distress call at 1.56pm and firefighters arrived at the scene around 2.20pm. Photographs supplied by the department to the media indicated that the aircraft bore markings of Singapore-based flight trainer company Aviation Safety Technology Pte Ltd. Identification on the aircraft describes it as a model Gabriél BK160 TR training aircraft by Italian manufacturer Blackshape. On its website, AST described the aircraft to be "designed as a tandem-seating, military-style basic trainer which serves for selection and introduction of cadets to aviation".

When contacted, AST said it still has no information about the incident. Malay Mail is also reaching out to the Singapore High Commission in Kuala Lumpur. According to the Fire Department, its personnel swiftly responded to the emergency call, with one fire engine and one rescue vehicle deployed to the scene.The initial report confirmed the crash, and efforts are underway to locate any potential victims. As of now, the identity of the victims remains unknown. Selangor police chief, Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, also confirmed the crash.

"I can only confirm the incident but there are no details yet because we have only seen the tail of the aircraft," he told the national news agency Bernama.

Klang Utara District police chief, S. Vijaya Rao, also confirmed the news when briefly contacted by Bernama, mentioning that he had just arrived at the crash site. Meanwhile, Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia chief executive officer, Datuk Capt. Norazman Mahmud said the authority is investigating the crash and will issue a press statement soon. Earlier today, a 17-second video depicting the wreckage of an unidentified aircraft that crashed in a palm oil plantation went viral online.

13.02.2024 - Police confirmed that the pilot and co-pilot of the BK 160 Gabriel light aircraft with I-POOC registration number that crashed in Kampung Tok Muda, Kapar were killed. The bodies of the two local men in their 30s and 40s were found in the cockpit of the plane that plunged more than two meters into the ground. Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar said the plane belonging to a recreational airline reportedly took off from Sultan Azlan Shah Airport, Subang at 1.28pm, before crashing in Kampung Tok Muda, Kapar. According to him, his party received emergency information regarding the incident at 1.45pm and arrived at the location around 2pm.

"A total of 45 percent of the fuselage weighing 1,300 kilograms (kg) sank more than two meters into the ground. The police together with the fire department, the Malaysian Civil Defense Force (APM) and other teams are trying to remove the two victims who we believe have died," he said at a press conference. at the scene today.

Hussein said the two victims, who are understood to be from Johor and Penang, were found around 2pm in the cockpit.

"At the moment the process of bringing out the body is being done and it is expected to take three hours. We are having difficulty digging more than two meters using an excavator because it is submerged and cannot be dug out," he said.

He said, the body will then be taken to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) for an autopsy and identification process by the next of kin. He said, the investigation will be carried out by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (BSKU), Ministry of Transport, while the police will open an investigation according to the police inquiry paper (KEP).

The operation uses the help of an "excavator" and manual digging by the fire brigade to find victims. The search radius is focused on the area where the plane crashed. The first victim was found and removed at 7.06pm by the rescue team. While the second victim was found and released at 7.17pm. Both victims were found near the wreckage and confirmed dead before being handed over to the PDRM for further action.

With the end of the discovery of 2 victims' bodies, the search operation was completely terminated at 7.35 pm. The Senior Fire Officer who was present at the scene of the incident was the Director of the Fire and Rescue Operations Division, YS TPjB Hj. Nordin bin Pauzi, Selangor State JBPM Director, YS PKPjB Wan Md Razali bin Wan Ismail together with Selangor JBPM Deputy Director, Assistant Director of Operations, Selangor State JBPM as well as several senior officials from Headquarters and the State.

FR24 shows the descent rate was about 4,000 ft/min at the end. That's gonna make a crater.
