An investigation into the tragic crash of two Italian military aircraft is in full swing as search and rescue teams continue their efforts to locate two missing pilots. The incident occurred in the hilly region between Ascoli, Roccafluvione, and Venarotta in Italy.

The aircraft involved were identified as two Tornado fighter jets, and on board were Captain Pilot Alessandro Dotto, Captain Navigator Giuseppe Palminteri (on the first aircraft), Captain Pilot Mariangela Valentini, and Captain Navigator Paolo Piero Franzese (on the second aircraft).

The search for the missing pilots remains a top priority for Italian authorities, with over 250 personnel from various law enforcement agencies and state bodies involved in the effort. The search operations are set to continue indefinitely, with a reduced presence only during nighttime hours.

The investigation has also focused on the recovery of crucial evidence, including a black box, which was not found intact. This orange container, resembling a shoebox in size, was discovered on the hillside between Tronzano and Casamurana, near where initial human remains were located. It has been seized by the Ascoli Mobile Squad and will be thoroughly examined by specialized technicians, including those from the manufacturer.

Prosecutors from the Ascoli Piceno district are leading the investigation, pursuing charges against unknown individuals for negligent aircraft disaster and, following the discovery of human remains, negligent homicide. The complexity of the case necessitates collaboration with various experts.
