Helicopter Crash Kills 7
A helicopter crash occurred in Uttarakhand, India, killing all seven people on board. The Aryan Aviation Bell 407 helicopter (VT-BKA) was ferrying passengers from Kedarnath to Guptkashi along a popular Hindu pilgrimage route in the Himalayan region. The crash took place near Gaurikund, likely due to low visibility caused by bad weather. The victims included the pilot, Lt. Col. (retd) Rajveer Singh Chauhan, five passengers, and a two-year-old child. Rescue operations were conducted by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and local police, who retrieved the charred bodies after five hours. The Uttarakhand government suspended helicopter services to Kedarnath Valley until Monday, pending a review of pilot experience and operator safety protocols. A case has been filed against Aryan Aviation's accountable manager and another manager under section 105 of the BNS and section 10 of the Aircraft Act for allegedly neglecting weather checks. This marks the fifth helicopter incident on the Char Dham pilgrimage route since April 30. |
