Gulfstream America G164B Crash

In a startling development this afternoon, a Gulfstream America G164B lightwing aircraft, operated by Systematic Aviation Services (SAS Air Services) Sdn Bhd, experienced a catastrophic failure resulting in a crash. The incident occurred in the agricultural region of Tringkap, Cameron Highlands.

The pilot, Australian national Peter Hardy, aged 56, sustained minor injuries in the crash. The incident was reported to have taken place around 1:30 pm. According to initial investigations, Hardy was engaged in aerial crop spraying operations over Boh Plantations at the Sungai Palas tea plantation in Brinchang when the aircraft lost control.

DSP Zainalabidin Othman, Cameron Highlands District Police Chief, indicated that the aircraft encountered difficulties at an altitude of approximately 5,040 ft, possibly due to engine failure. However, the investigation into the precise cause of the incident is still ongoing.

A local witness and the chief of Tringkap Rela, Cheong Yip Hin, reported seeing the aircraft's engine halt and the plane executing a double spin before crashing on a slope in the vegetable farm. Hin, who was near his house at the time, rushed to the crash site and found Hardy alive.

The aircraft, used for spraying fertilizer over the plantation, had completed its task of scattering fertilizer over the farm before the incident occurred. In response to the emergency, the Cameron Highlands Fire and Rescue Station deployed personnel to the crash site.

The Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) is now involved in further probing the technical aspects of this accident. Police are aiding in security control at the scene, and the Boh company is reportedly cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

Re: Gulfstream America G164B Crash

Sounds kind of fishy. Australian crop dusting in W. Malaysia? This area is known for growing the opium poppy plant. Probably spraying defoliant and got shot down.
