In Cancun, Mexico, a day that began with excitement and anticipation quickly turned into a tragedy as a gender-reveal stunt involving a high-flying plane ended in a fatal crash into the open waters.

The unfortunate incident claimed the lives of both the pilot and co-pilot of the plane. The ill-fated spectacle unfolded while the expecting parents and their guests watched from a boat on Nichupte Lagoon off Cancun.

Video footage captured the plane flying gracefully over the water, seemingly part of the planned gender-reveal stunt. The aircraft trailed a banner announcing the gender of the child, with jubilant witnesses on the boat shouting in Spanish, "Girl! Girl! It's a girl!"

Tragically, the mood took a grim turn as one of the guests can be heard joking about a potential crash, remarking in Spanish, "As long as it does not fall on us." Moments later, the plane abruptly went into a nosedive, crashing into the ocean. The family onboard the boat reacted with screams and shock at the horrifying sight.

Mexican authorities swiftly responded to the scene, recovering the bodies of the pilot and co-pilot from the crash site. An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of this devastating incident.

The plane involved was a white Cessna rented from a company called Xomex, with the pilot being the owner of the aircraft.

Speculation is this was classic stall, spin. The plane appeared to do a hard right turn circling the boat, which triggered the stall. They were flying too low to recover.
