Floatplane Flips After Hard Water Landing in 2016
A floatplane made a hard water landing in 2016 and bounced. The engine mounts failed, allowing the engine to rotate forward. The propeller cut into the floats, weakening them. On the next contact with the water, the damaged floats broke and dug in, flipping the aircraft. The front cabin collapsed in the impact sequence. The pilot was not seriously injured. The aircraft was reinforced and returned to flight.
