Ethiopian Airlines Cargo Plane Destroyed by Fire at Shanghai Pudong
An Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 777 Freighter, registered as ET-ARH, experienced a fire incident at Shanghai Pudong International Airport. The fire occurred while the aircraft was loading cargo for a scheduled service from Shanghai to São Paulo, continuing onwards to Santiago. Visual evidence from the scene, circulated on social media, showed significant smoke emanation and extensive damage to the aircraft's upper fuselage. Despite the severity of the fire, Ethiopian Airlines confirmed there were no casualties. The airline, in a statement, mentioned that all ground staff and flight crew were safe. Following the incident, incoming flights to Shanghai Pudong International Airport were rerouted to Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. Prior to this incident, the aircraft had completed a journey from N’Djamena to Shanghai, with a stopover in Brussels. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and Ethiopian Airlines is working closely with the relevant authorities to determine the circumstances that led to this event. |
