Dana Air Flight 992 Crashes on Approach to Lagos, Nigeria
On June 3, 2012, Dana Air Flight 992, a scheduled domestic commercial passenger flight from Abuja to Lagos, Nigeria, ended in tragedy. The McDonnell Douglas MD-83 aircraft, while on its approach to Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, suffered a catastrophic dual-engine failure. The aircraft, unable to maintain flight, tragically crashed into a furniture works and printing press building in the Iju-Ishaga neighborhood of Lagos. The impact of the crash was devastating, resulting in the loss of all 153 people aboard the flight. Additionally, the crash caused fatalities on the ground, with 10 people in the vicinity of the crash site losing their lives. |
